A eulogy for a wife and mother, written for a husband or the family to adapt.

Eulogy

[Full name] was born on [date] in [place], the [first] daughter of [parents' names]. She studied at [schools] and worked as a [profession] at [employer], where she touched many lives.

We married in [year] and she made our house a home. She was the heart of our family, the organiser of every celebration and the first to arrive whenever someone needed help.

She was a loving mother to [children's names], a faithful member of [church] and a dear friend to many of you here today.

After [an illness she faced with great courage], she passed on on [date]. The emptiness she leaves is matched only by the love she gave.

She leaves me, her husband [name]; her children [names]; her parents [names]; her siblings [names]; and many friends. Thank you for every day. Rest in peace, my love.

Tips

How do you write a eulogy for a Wife?

Follow their life in order: birth and early life, education, work, family, faith and character, a brief and gentle word on their passing, and a farewell. Add one or two true stories. Speak about her as a person, not only as a wife and mother: her work, her humour, her dreams.

How long should a eulogy be?

When read aloud, about five to seven minutes, or 700 to 900 words. In a printed programme it can be a little longer.
